How-To Guide

Reposting this…

The blog has seen a huge increase in traffic in the last month. how-to-blog-blackboard-classroom_id785240_size485 No idea why, but here’s my advice for the best way to figure out what the hell I’m talking about. First, read the manifesto. There’s a link in the right column. Second, sort the posts chronologically, using the pull-down menu above the manifesto link and choosing “Sort by Date ASC.” And if the mood strikes you, leave a comment. Nobody else seems to, so there are a lot of opportunities to claim “first.”

I’m guilty of not commenting, even though I’ve read from the beginning and enjoyed it. At first it was because I was so far “behind,” it didn’t seem relevant. For a few of the more recent posts it’s been because there were already such thought-out, genuinely concerned comments. You may not get tons of comments, but it’s clear that at least some of your readers are invested and interested. So you shouldn’t say “nobody” comments; isn’t that kind of a slap in the face to those loyal few?

As for the increase in readership, I found you a month or two ago when Samm Levine linked on Twitter. Maybe some others did, too. I’ll try to visit regularly and chime in more.

I can’t remember if I’ve ever commented (though I know my wife once did), but I stumbled upon your blog after your 1st or 2nd post and it has been one of my only “must read” blogs ever since.

I love it since most of your manifesto and reasons for doing this thing could have been written by me. Mind you, I haven’t actually done any of the things you set out to do, but I’m a highly interested observer and looking for inspiration on becoming a people person, too.
