How-To Guide

Reposting this…

The blog has seen a huge increase in traffic in the last month.

No idea why, but here’s my advice for the best way to figure out what the hell I’m talking about. First, read the manifesto. There’s a link in the right column. Second, sort the posts chronologically, using the pull-down menu above the manifesto link and choosing “Sort by Date ASC.” And if the mood strikes you, leave a comment. Nobody else seems to, so there are a lot of opportunities to claim “first.”

I’m guilty of not commenting, even though I’ve read from the beginning and enjoyed it. At first it was because I was so far “behind,” it didn’t seem relevant. For a few of the more recent posts it’s been because there were already such thought-out, genuinely concerned comments. You may not get tons of comments, but it’s clear that at least some of your readers are invested and interested. So you shouldn’t say “nobody” comments; isn’t that kind of a slap in the face to those loyal few?

As for the increase in readership, I found you a month or two ago when Samm Levine linked on Twitter. Maybe some others did, too. I’ll try to visit regularly and chime in more.

I can’t remember if I’ve ever commented (though I know my wife once did), but I stumbled upon your blog after your 1st or 2nd post and it has been one of my only “must read” blogs ever since.

I love it since most of your manifesto and reasons for doing this thing could have been written by me. Mind you, I haven’t actually done any of the things you set out to do, but I’m a highly interested observer and looking for inspiration on becoming a people person, too.
